Comedy Increases Influence
Stiff, boring presentations - no matter how educational and urgent - will create a disconnect from the intended audience. You may notice a data analysis called a bounce rate if your message is via video. The bounce rate is how fast an audience leaves your content; funny content is the most consumed. PSI TV may be a TV Agency, but we see our business as developing influential reach - for our brand and yours.
We are hoping for the characteristics of humor to be learnable because none of us here at Influence Media PSI TV were born with the comedy gene.
For my TV guests and the Netflix-like channels we build for clients; the humor factor needs to be dialed up to increase viewership and retain that attention. Attention is the most coveted currency, more valued than money. Even the most serious content can find a humorous opportunity, whether through a play on words, finding a joke on the topic and incorporating it, or using animation and pattern interrupts to keep the attention on what is being shared.
Years ago, I took an improv class because I intrinsically knew the value of being more comedic to my brand and message. Being hilarious does not come naturally to me; I am the Queen of political incorrectness. Frankly, I am the person who prefers to write than speak because I can edit what I write, but it is impossible to take back something said inappropriately. As I write this, I have already committed to learning how to be funnier, and I encourage you to do the same - well, if you are working on increasing your content engagement, you should.
